RE: Grandpa Gotta Cook—Navajo Tacos
There are some manuals in the machines, but they aren't all that helpful. There are times when something is happening and it's not described in the book. I'm not sure if there's anything else available or not. A lot of it becomes by trial and error. I'm kind of used to that, having ran my own business and being the one who had to fix things. :)
That's true sir Glen, that job is right down your alley in that you have to be a self-starter and handle problems. I wonder if the other guys learned mostly by on the job experience and practice.
I know one of them pretty much did. Well, and the other pretty much did, too, except he got it working other places and other kinds of machines, but with similar inner workings and mechanisms. I guess it all starts to mix and match at some point, so it doesn't have to be specifically arcade games you're working on. I just don't have that type of experience beyond some superficial computer repairs or updates. Even, there, though the solutions for fixing things are fairly similar.
So it's just a matter of experience. I hope they fill your schedule back up with good locations and that is stays fairly interesting. I mean it's always a little different because you never know what the situation with them is going to be right? So it's not real boring yet.
I really can't complain about this or them as far as the schedule goes. It's been fairly steady, with some additions sprinkled here and there, especially on Thursday, which I don't mind. I would like to at least be at 40 hours on a regular basis. I don't need it every week, just averaging out in a month.
This is the first time in over three months where I've had a major-ish shake up in schedule, and really, I kind of knew it was coming with some weeks in advance. I just hoped it could be worked out on the fly, but apparently it couldn't. The problem, like most jobs, is the person who is responsible for the scheduling has a thousand other pressing duties, too.
So, I haven't had a day off in a while (albeit unpaid), and I still need to take the van in for an oil change, and I might end up doing some Friday work today, since I will probably end up at one venue today anyway. Makes for a shorter day on Friday, which I actually don't mind at all. :)
That all sounds good sir glen! When you say you haven't had a day off in awhile you mean Monday through Friday?
