Dusshera celebration

Mangalore, my hometown, is famous for it's Dusshera celebration. The city is crowded and is lit up in colourful lights with idols of Durga Mata hosted at different places in the city. The beauty is breathtaking. Locals who work elsewhere make sure that they are home to celebrate this festival. Mangalore Dusshera is incomplete without the iconic tiger dance.

Goddess idols are given shape by experts and are nothing but beauty personified. While the other temples manage to get different avatars of goddess Durga by changing the settings, one temple kudroli boasts about it's grand Dusshera by hosting 9 idols of Durga in different avatars. They are all equally beautiful.

The festivities end on 19th with a grand procession of tableaus and tiger dance. If you have missed this then you have missed a lot.
