Abolqasem Ferdowsi was a renowned Iranian poet, best known for his epic masterpiece, "Shahnameh" (The Book of Kings). Born in 940 CE in the city of Tus, in present-day Iran, Ferdowsi dedicated over three decades of his life to composing this epic, which consists of nearly 60,000 couplets.

"Shahnameh" is a monumental work that narrates the mythical and historical past of Persia, from its creation to the fall of the Sassanian Empire.
