Steemit New Feature Request!

Steemit is Good, How Do we make it Great?

If we combine GitHub and Steemit for posting and managing content we could have a Super Git-Steem Hub that would add up to way more money, way more market cap for everyone involved. When I say combine Github, I mean bring in the best open source features of github for content management that anyone familiar with Github takes for granted.

Heres The Problem!

I am not a writer. I have horrible spelling and grammar and don’t even know what I am doing most of the time. I just come up with ideas and throw out a bunch of words. When I had assignments in school my papers would always be slashed up more than the best Steem TA you could find on this site. I am not the only one, sometimes I run across errors on other peoples work, like you see the autocorrect popped in the wrong word, or a missing word. I am sure this little article is packed full of them. LOL What if I could easily fix that for the person with a few clicks and get paid while I am at it?

More About The Solution

I have been using computers and software online and off for about as long as I can remember. In all of my discoveries one of the best systems I have ever used is Github. If Steemit could find a way to integrate the posting system with Github, or a Github like system, we could have an even more elaborate payments system than before. In this system you would post a story, and that version is stored, however anybody could commit a change to it, or suggest a fix, i.e. it could be as small as a spelling change, and the author could then approve the changes, and then the editor would get a percent of the story too if it makes any. The better the edits, the better the chances of making more payout. In effect your friend could re-write your story and you would both make money, and the community would get better polished work. With more eyes and hands on posts, who knows how big they could get. This would create endless amounts of small bounties as people could work together towards a better Steemit as a whole.

Interesting idea. Perhaps you could widen the net a little though and instead of using git/version control they could add 'contributors' feature first? This would allow for edits, but importantly would allow for collaborative posts, or even translations.

Exactly, that would be a lot simpler. Anything that can add some more collaboration will increase the network effect. Thanks that is the word I was looking for.

I've had a similar idea... and several others. It's tricky, because there is virtue in keeping things simple... I really love your idea and proposal, but implementing it could be really difficult. I have no doubt that people will try, but It will take a good developer to tinker with it and finetune it and test it thoroughly, the path from idea to reality could take days or months. I think you will find that if something is already possible without a change there will be a diminished reward for doing it... for example, it is already possible to curate and collaboratively work on articles and review it extensively before posting here. The only additional thing would be to automatically split the reward out to everyone who participated. It's a cool idea... if I get a change I'll hack at etherpad and wikimedia and steem to see whats possible... unless someone beats me to it. Perhaps we should start an "codeideas" or "marketopportunities" tag?

Actually, I have thought about this some more, and I like how you used the #feature tag.

I think Steemit can make an excellent Wiki. Not that it would be a good monetization model for something like #Wikipedia, but there is really something here.
