Feature Request: Enable Tagging People in Comments
The current comment system is broken. For those of you who aren't aware of the issue: comments can only go 6 levels deep in the threading before the system does not allow replies. Once you reach that point, the best you can do is keep replying to the previous level of threading, essentially a flat discussion thread now, and hope the other person checks back and sees it. If they never specifically go through their comments looking for a reply, they'll never see it and the discussion is over.
This prevents any truly lengthy discussion... on a social media platform where the makers are encouraging us to be active, make comments and discuss things. So in order to support that we really need a commenting system that works.
Now, to be perfectly honest I've never been a fan of threaded comments in the first place. A flat discussion has always been my preference, but whatever... the thing that makes the "flat" discussion work well on, for example, Facebook is that you can tag the other person and he gets notified of a reply.
Since Steemit effectively becomes a flat thread after 6 levels, we could at least keep the discussion going if you could tag the person you're replying to and the post would show up in his reply list.
Instead of asking for another workaround feature, maybe everyone should just start asking for the 6 level deep comment restriction to be removed. It would greatly improve the conversations around here.
Every other forum on the internet can do it, this one can too.
