Feathered Friday: Black Ducks
Welcome to Feathered Friday hosted by @keithboone.
Black Duck

Canon EOS Rebel T6
1/250 f/3.5 50mm ISO100
A mother duck leads her ducklings. These ducklings are getting big but still with mother.
The wild ducks are quite tame. They make their evening rounds near the shoreline to see which cottager will toss out some food for them.

Lovely photos, especially with the ducklings. 😀
Thanks @neli! 😊
You are most welcome! 😀
Such a lovely, peaceful setting... I could sit there and watch the ducks for hours. The ducklings do seem a little big to be following Mom around, right? Thanks for posting in Feathered Friday! Voted and resteemed, have a great weekend!
Thanks Keith. I thought it was strange the mother had bigger ducklings with her but I was told they had been with her all along. I don’t know if she lost this year’s babies or the eggs never hatched. Lots of predators to kill them.
Son fotos geniales...
Thanks and for stopping by @latino.romano.
great photos @redheadpei that first one is awesome portrait :)
Thanks @steven-patrick! 😊
I was unaware that there was a duck that was called black duck! They look fairly similar to female Mallards don't they? I always learn something new from you!
These are ducks on the lake my sister has her cottage. Everyone calls them black ducks.
I looked them up and that is exactly what they are. I don't recall ever seeing them here, although the map says we have them year round. I'll have to pay more attention.
Howdy redheadpei! Those are some remarkable shots! is that a local lake near you guys?
No, this Lake is in New Brunswick- a 5 hr. drive from my house on PEI. Many great memories connected with Skiff Lake. This lake is near where I spent my childhood and went to school. My friends and I would bike there for a swim. It’s spring-fed so the water is cool but we never minded as kids. The lake is quiet but popular for some boating and waterskiing, Boaters look out for the loons and ducks. My sister has a cottage there and we probably visit a few days each summer when she is there. it’s like going home as I still know many of the families in the area and my brother lives a few miles from here on my parent’s farm.
oh oh cool redheadpei! Is your parent's farm still there?
Yes, the house, garage, barn and the fields. No livestock now. My brother restored the barn and renovated a bit inside the farmhouse. He’s retired from the forestry.
howdy today redheadpei! so someone is living in your parent's house now? It sounds like a great place. Your place looks wonderful too. Maybe a bit cold. lol.
Hi Cowboy! Thanks. Today is above freezing...this too shall pass.
Yes it’s nice my brother lives in my parent’s house.
