Feathered Friday. Bird in the Berlin Zoo. / Птица в Берлинском зоопарке.

Walking around the Berlin Zoo, we saw from a distance in a spacious aviary, closed with a net, a huge bird spreading its wings, which sat in this position for quite a while.

Гуляя по Берлинскому зоопарку, мы ещё издали увидели в просторном вольере, закрытом сеткой, огромную птицу, раскинувшую крылья, которая сидела в такой позе довольно долго.

It looked very impressive. Unfortunately, while the bird was in such a beautiful pose, I managed to photograph it only through the net.	Это выглядело очень эффектно. К сожалению, пока птица была в такой красивой позе, мне удалось сфотографировать её только сквозь сетку.
I have not photographed the tablet. Now, when I wanted to show this spectacular bird, I had to search the Internet for something similar. I am almost certain that this is the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) - the largest flying bird in the western hemisphere. From the name it is clear that the bird is found in the Andes in South America.	Я не сфотографировала табличку. Теперь же, когда я захотела показать эту эффектную птицу, пришлось искать в Интернете что-то похожее. Я почти уверена, что это андский кондор (Vultur gryphus) – самая большая летающая птица западного полушария. Из названия понятно, что птица водится в Андах в Южной Америке.
Observers were surprised to find these birds, rising to an enormous height of up to 7000 meters.	Наблюдатели с удивлением обнаруживали этих птиц, поднимающихся на огромную высоту до 7000 метров.

When we got closer, I tried to take a picture of a bird without a net, but it was just beginning to fold its wings.	Когда мы подошли поближе, я попыталась сфотографировать птицу без сетки, но она как раз начала складывать крылья.
In nature, scavenger birds sit like this, spreading their wings in the sun to disinfect them. In the zoo of such necessity, I think, no. But the instinct remained.	В природе птицы-падальщики сидят вот так, раскинув крылья на солнце, чтобы продезинфицировать их. В зоопарке такой необходимости, я думаю, нет. Но инстинкт остался.

The bird does not immediately fold its wings, still additionally cleans it with its beak.

Птица не сразу складывает крылья, ещё дополнительно чистит клювом.
