Feathered Friends Friday - Still having issues -

Focus
My lens seems to have taken a dislike towards our feathered friends. It just will not find a good focus. It has been three weeks since my last featheredfriday post due to this issue. But it was a nice day today. So slightly out of focus is a Magpie. It was, for me an early morning set of shots from out the upstairs window, looking down. He was just a hopping and bopping looking for them late morning worms and bugs I guess.
We have had a lot of rainy days this past week or so, but as you can see, it is finally having an effect on the grasses, some of them are turning green, and one more of our hopping and bopping hunting for the worm bird dance.
Okay like the magpie this Blackheaded seagull (bonaparte's gull), is also a little bit faded out of focus, My big lens really has it in for birds lately.
He looks like he is evaluating whether or not to go for a swim, and decides to take the plunge, and get those little blurry feet moving.
The river is the Kasilof River, and the gull shots were from the boat launch area. The Magpie of course was taken from home. So since there was a small issue with bird focus, I thought I would share a preview of a river panoramic shot. This is only two frames combined, I hope to get a few more river shots up tomorrow.
So here is a small preview for my Monday post. I would have shared more, or a few more tomorrow, but I do need to think about @mountainmonday on Monday.
This is a view from under the bridge, I clambered over rocks, and tree stumps and dead things to get this picture. I had to help give myself a leg up on the way back because the bank trail edge was that high. Same lens as used for the birds, a big difference in focus.
Okay so you may be wondering about the orange balls in the sky over the river, or not if you fly. They are to mark the power lines. You see in Alaska the small plane is a lot of peoples second car, and they will land on river banks and sandbars if they are real desperate to fish. (Alaskan Fishermen love to fish and go to great lengths to get to the best spots.).
So that's a preview of Monday, I may even have a nice boulder shot for @shasta's #bouldersunday tag, and trees for @old-guy-photos on #treetuesday, and of course there are all the pictures that make a walk interesting for @tattoodjay's #wednesdaywalk. So much packed into one outing, One trip five possible post, all my favorite subjects. If this was from two weeks ago I could have even had a sign shadow for @melinda010100's #shadowphoto challenge. At least I was finally able to get together a #featheredfriday post, which is now hosted by @melinda010100.

Oh those marvelous magpies! I do wish we had them here! And I love the gull photo, but those landscapes are breathtaking! Thank you for doing a #featheredfriday post. I appreciate the support!
I just wish my lens would focus a bit better on the birds, I have not gotten a killer focus shot in some time now, but I did not want to miss a whole month of no featheredfriday post. We finally had another nice day.
Taking pictures of birds now that the leaves are on the trees is hard for me. The camera wants to focus on the leaf, not the bird!
your bird pictures always look nice and sharp to me, that they did receive the primary focus, I just need more practice I think.
The owls were called by @mathowl
Great bird shots you made with a lens that has a no birds period. And wow stunning landscape shots, will be nice Monday post.
Beautiful shots even with the focus issues my Big lens also struggles with birds sometimes
I just can't figure out the bird focus issue. I'm sure I will one day, but I never had a problem with eagle pictures, at least not much.
It could well be the eagle is larger and against they sky so easier for the camera to work out what to focus on, on the ground it may lock onto the grass or plants instead
What gorgeous scenery with a turquoise river. Your post has me thinking we need a Steemit hiking club.
I do enjoy seeing a lot of the walks people take us on on Wednesday's. Some are pretty good looking hiking activity, both in Towns and Cities, and from the folks in Rural areas. part of the reason I like the outdoor type tags above. People try to actively go and get pictures to share. A nice win-win situation for all. Especially for this mostly arm-chair traveler.
I like when they take us to places where we can't go, and I mean usually because it is inconvenient or because you just wouldn't fly half way around the world to walk a neighbourhood. We can always find the tourist hotspots online but you can't appreciate where and how people actually live. It's priceless.
In Dutch we call that type of gull visdiefjes (=fish-thief) @regularowl cookie votes
I'm sure I have seen them before in Alaska, but they are not to frequent for this area, yet.
