Rampaging Bear

You've been lost wandering around the woods for awhile. The sun in sinking beneath the horizon and a deep fear surfaces as the darkness begins to creep out from beneath the crevices of the earth. You hear a crack of a stick behind you, a rustling of the leaves. And from the corner of your eye you see the magnificent brown fur of the Grizzlie Bear.

A great terror envelops you. You are paralyzed in fear. What move will you make? Only one image comes to mind. That of the rampaging bear. The claws from above tearing down at your defenseless body. Red streaks of blood carpeting the cold barren ground beneath the forest canopy. Your death will be a momentary frame of violence in mother nature's eternal story.

You could run, but the bear will chase. You could abandon your backpack of supplies in hope of escaping the bear. But what then? If you escape the bear, you are still lost in the unforgiving conditions of nightfall. What other creatures lurk out there?

You could simply stay still. Pretend you are dead. If the bear comes over, maybe it will leave you alone. It'll still probably take a few swipes at your backpack and the food still left in there. You are still defenseless. In either case, your fate lies in the whims of whichever way the bear decides to wander.

Or you could stand up to the bear. Stand your ground and try to intimidate it back. Take courage in place of fear. Or it is recklessness? If it doesn't work, you're sure to get mauled. But if the bear backs down, you become king of the forest, master of the wilderness.
