Free Bitcoin using Faucets - No kidding. How BTC Faucets work.

in #faucet7 years ago

Hi,

So as I've been researching and learning about investing into cryptocurrencies (CC), one thing that I stumbled upon that I found incredibly interesting and novel were Bitcoin Faucets.

These Faucet sites basically work in the following way. Typically you need a wallet from one of their preferred BTC sites. Coinpot.co is a popular one.

Once you have signed up with a wallet at Coinpot you can now go to a whole bunch of different sites that will give you free Satoshis for verifying that you aren't human. What's a satoshi you ask? You can think of a Satoshi as a BTC penny (kind of). It's a fraction of a BTC. For example at the current rate, you would need about 2500 Satoshi equal $0.01usd (+/-).

So how does it work? You basically go to one of these faucet sites and you prove you aren't a robot (usually by completing a captcha) and then once every 5 or 15 or 60 minutes (Depending on the site) you can get anywhere from 5 to hundreds of free Satoshis that are immediately sent to your wallet in Coinpot.

How can these guys give away free BTC? Easy. Here is how they do it. They give away 5 satoshi that is worth about $0.0001174895usd. Now they will sell 10 ads on that page for $.15 cents for 1000 views. That means they make $1.50usd for each thousand views and give away about $0.10 in free bitcoin to get those 10 impressions. Money making engines if you convince enough advertisers to host on your pages.

Summary: Fun concept but a waste of time at current rates. What is fun is that in 50 years from now a Satoshi might actually be worth a couple bucks (or more) so they might talk about a time when you could go online and complete a catpcha to get free cash.
