I would like to give everyone a heads up regarding Thursday morning. Prepare for extra time to get to your destination. We are going to be watching low pressure moving up the coast with an area of heavy downpours. They look to arrive on Long Island between 4 and 6am and they should be done by noon. During the morning rush hour we are likely to see some heavy rains. Before then we have some great weather to enjoy. After the rough start with downpours this morning, we saw the sun come out by midday and the rest of the day was spectacular. Skies are clear on the satellite picture not just on Long Island but everywhere nearby. This gives us a nice night of clear skies with most lows in the 50s.

While the radar takes a break, we enjoy a nice day on Wednesday with sunshine most of the day. There will be an ocean wind and that will hold temperatures down a bit. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s except for 60s right along the shore. Other than some mid to late afternoon high clouds there are no issues. Tomorrow night will be mostly dry until the low starts to come up from the south. There will be a ball of downpours with this developing low. Winds will pick up from the east and southeast bringing in moisture. The dynamics here are actually robust so I think we will see rain with heavy downpours Friday morning between 5am and noon. Rainfall amounts of up to a couple of inches are possible until the low pulls away to the northeast.

Late in the afternoon and evening a cold front from the west passes and there could be a shower or thunderstorm Thursday evening. After that dry air returns. We will have no worse than a mix of sun and clouds Friday with highs into the 70s. Then it is on to the weekend which looks very good and progressively warmer.

Saturday we should see plenty of sunshine with highs into the 80s with slightly lower temperatures at the shore. Sunday Father's Day will be very warm and more humid with some sunshine. Highs could reach well into the 80s away from the shore and 70s right at the beaches. No thunderstorms are forecast until sometime Sunday night when we see the possibility of thunderstorms. Warm and humid conditions will continue on Monday and possibly into Tuesday until a frontal boundary finally passes to the south.
