Die Herausgeber und Autoren des Buches "Fassadendemokratie und Tiefer Staat" teilen die Überzeugung, dass sich die westlich parlamentarischen Demokratien im Niedergang befinden und in ihrem aktuellen Status zu Fassadendemokratien verkommen sind. Bei den westlichen Demokratien handele es sich längst um inszenierte Demokratieveranstaltungen für die Öffentlichkeit. Die reale Macht gehe von einem Tiefen Staat "hinter dem Theatervorgang" aus.
