ALLLLLL about Lipstick!!!!

Who doesn't love lipstick? I am sure about all ladies out there, Not sure about men though :-)
It's our one of the favourite cosmetics. For me!! I can't go out without wearing it. The dressing up seems incomplete wihtout it.
Anyways, do anybody of us know when and how it originated? Who bothers? Nobody.
But sometimes it is good to know a bit about things we are using daily.
So, I just tried to dig the internet to find some interesting facts about this.
The history says that about 5000 years ago, the concept of lipstick came into picture when ancient Sumerian (Sumer - an Urban area of Southern Mesopotamia) women and men started coloring their lips with crushed or powdered gemstones like ruby, sapphire, emarald etc (so easily available that time and so tough to find and costly now). Sounds interesting !! yay !!
And then again we see, ancient Egyptian like Cleopatra also used to color lips with the mostly red color extracted from bugs by smashing them. Yack !! For them using lip color used to be a status symbol. Both men and women of high status used to color their lips.
Later Islamic Golden Age also have seen usage of this cosmetics.
Smart Americans were not very late to adopt this lip coloring trend and passed on to rest of the world.
England was very apt to accept this trend as well.
And then many people came forward to make it commercially available since it became popular in no time.
Initially they used many types of dyes (eg: Carmine dye) to make many hues and shades of lipsticks.
The conventional cylindrical shape of lipstick and its container was invented by Maurice Levy in 1912.
All Royal people was the main users of this royal cosmetics initially.
Gradually, it became gender oriented and only women started highlighting lips with it more than men.
Today also even if men use it for some purpose, they prefer to use nude, skin and natural colors that won't supress their original lip color.
