According to legend, when the soldier went to war, his girlfriend or his wife wore a narrow scarf around his neck to remind him of their love.

The French king Louis XIII for the war against the Habsburg empire, attracted detachments of Croatian cavalry to his side. Part of the form of Croatian warriors were neck scarves, which were tied to a knot.

In contrast to the then widespread lace collars, which had to be washed, starched and pressed in a special way, the "Croatian ties" did not require such careful care and did not restrict freedom of movement.

In France, they decided to tie it under the collar of a shirt. By the way, today almost a billion men wear a tie every day!

With the onset of the industrial revolution, the tie began to simplify, new forms began to appear, in particular Ascot and the bow-tie that survived to this day.

In its current form, the tie appeared only in 1926 in New York, when Jesse Langsdorf first sewed and patented a tie sewn from 3 pieces of fabric cut out by a scythe. Such a cut contributed to the elasticity of the tie, it did not twist and always took the same shape.
