My lolita style fashion, my story

in #fashion7 years ago

Hi steemians ! (don't know how should usually be called hahaha)

Today I want to talk about my experience inside a Japanese fashion.

Here is a photo(taken by Brayan Iglesias Photography)  of me being happy about books, this outfit was inspired in Minnie Mouse.

As many of you may know, Harajuku has been the city of fashion in Japan, Lolita fashion was born there. I don't know if the name Lolita might be linked to the book "Lolita" written by Vladimir Nabokov. Truth is, none lolita fashion follower approves that these are even linked, in fact they don't even want the book to be mentioned, because of this, the fashion might have gotten a bad reputation, but either way. If you ever encounter a Lolita Fashion lover don't ever mention the book, because they will directly answer that it is not related.

It seems that they named the fashion "lolita" because it sounded just cute and so without knowing it's global meaning thanks to the writer.

Now, lolita has strict anatomy to follow, if you don't you are not considered lolita (you may think it's pretty elitist, well fashion it is as well). There are communities all around the world that share this passion, I used to be in one from my country called "El palacio de las orquídeas" and they all just followed what the lolita rules said. Now before we get to it, you may want to know Lolita is a fashion inspired in the baroque and victorian Era, frilly and big dresses, now lolita has adapted it to modern times.

This anatomy consists of : Blouse, skirt/OP(one piece)/jumper skirt, knee socks, shoes (Mary Janes type), and headdress (optional).

I have been in this fashion for 2 years, though I am not as into it as before, I wear it sometimes, now I wear more "otome" clothes which are super casual but super cute. There are even girls who wear lolita fashion everyday !

Sadly, the lolita fashion's is dissapearing day by day, even lolita clothe's themed shops are closing, such as "Baby the stars shine brigh" or "Victorian Maiden" which were ones of the main stores who sold this type of clothing.

Here is another photo, all my clothes are venezuelan indie brands, blouse if from Bal Des Ifs , Skirt is from Golden Windrose (which is currently closed permanently), corset is from Tiang Elegance, and the rest are offbrand.

Here in this photo I still belonged to Venezuelan community El Palacio de las Orquídeas, and last year I quit because I had other responsabilities but it was fun participating as staff member and going into comic and anime conventions to spread the fashion.

I hope that you liked this post and hope to see you again in my next one !

Oh thank you for your comment ! What I wrote wasn't about something sad or bad, I wasn't saying that my energy was dropping because I was no longer wearing lolita clothes as passionate as before, I was saying that some people think that Lolita is little by little dissapearing from the market, but that doesn't mean it will "die". It might evolve as lot's of fashion trends do. But as time passed I found new passions, and so lolita fashion was part of me but now I am just wearing what makes me feel happy and so as you said what inspires you to be happy :-)
