Homemade Fungicides

Hello dear Steemians. This time I bring you a post about some homemade fungicides used to fight diseases caused by fungi that affect our plants. Among these we can mention the following: purine nettle, slurry or infusion of horsetail, fungicide with milk, macerated with garlic.

Then I leave a description of each of them:

Nettle purine: this fungicide, in addition to helping with the appearance of fungi, prevents the appearance of other pests such as mites, white flies, red spiders and aphids. With this fungicide we provide our plants with a portion of nitrogen important for proper development. To do this you must collect the nettles and have water by hand. You mix the nettles in the water with a stick. Do not use metal objects, so the container should be made of plastic. Stir it up Cover it and put it in an environment where there is not much light and there is no possibility of insects damaging the preparation. Stir every day for 5 to 10 minutes for approximately 15 or 20 days. When you use it, pour it in a plastic container at the rate of one part of suspension for ten of water.

Horsetail: this herb like the previous one is effective to treat problems in plants. Horsetail grows in humid areas. It is possible to find it on roads where water flows. It is ideal for curing plants against fungal attacks, as it has a high silicon content. This can be used as a suspension or as an infusion. The difference between the use of both lies in the time of use. The first can be stored for a while, while the infusion is almost instantaneous use. This fungicide protects the crops of mildew, powdery mildew, rust, among others.

The process of preparing the suspension follows the same procedures for preparing the nettle suspension. The infusion, on the other hand, has another elaboration process. To proceed with its preparation, it is possible to use fresh or dried horsetail. Boil the water and add the dry or fresh horsetail. The proportions will depend on the number of plants you have. For example, 50 grams of horsetail are added to 5 liters of water. Stir so that the horse's tail mixes with the water, cover and boil for 1 hour. Once the time has passed, get it out of the heat and let it sit for about 12 hours. Then cut it into a container and it will be ready to be used at the speed of one part of the infusion for three parts of water.

Milk fungicide: this fungicide is potent and, although it is very effective, it must be administered in a few doses, as it could burn the plants. For its preparation, only milk (skimmed milk, because only milk salts are needed) and sodium bicarbonate will be needed. Its preparation is simple and consists of mixing 800 milliliters of water and 200 milliliters of milk in a plastic container. Mix and proceed to use. It is recommended to use it in the afternoon and in small quantities.

Maceration of garlic: garlic for its valuable fungicidal action is also ideal for treating the fungus that affects plants. To prepare it you only need water and garlic. It can be used to treat diseases of peach, brotytis, rust, among others. Chop the garlic (a head of garlic), put it in a pot and pour water. Let it rest for a few hours: 4 approximately. Then it is brought to boil for at least another hour, it is turned off and left to rest. When cooling, it is soldered and placed in a plastic bottle. To use it, unlike the previous ones, it is not diluted in water. To use this preparation, it is recommended to put it in a bottle with a spray cap that allows the mixture to reach the affected parts better.

Note: it is recommended that the water used to prepare the preparations should be rain, but if this is not possible, collect the tap water and let it rest for at least a day to be able to use it. This should be done, because tap water has large amounts of chlorine and can affect the properties of plants.
