The truth and I had a long time that I did not make a post about these, but in this occasion I would like to talk about a very peculiar flower that has a lot of use and has really interested me and is the CAYENA.

Cayenne is a shrub of the Malvaceas Cayena family, originally from East Asia and spread to many tropical regions of the world, as in this case Latin America.
It receives several names like papo, blood of Christ or Chinese rose, but
actually and scientifically it is called Hibiscus rosa-sinensis.
It is a hybrid plant, so there are many variety of them, with flowers of different colors.
It is quite popular, commonly used everywhere. Who has not seen a fence full of cayenas ?.

It is a small perennial shrub, which blooms all year round.
The average or maximum height is 3.5 meters, but it can exceed five. It presents alternating leaves, glossy green, wide, with slightly serrated edges.
Flared flowers are hermaphrodites. Depending on the species, they can be single or double.
They are observed in fascicles in the armpits of the leaves; grouped in inflorescences or solitary. They have prominent stamens and pistils, are of short duration (only one day), but the plant blooms daily.
there are red, pink, scarlet, orange, yellow, white, nuanced, large or medium leaves.
They consist of five petals and the stamens have a column shape. Normally it does not have fruit as such, and when it is presented, it is a capsule from which there are several seeds.
The cayenne stem is woody, erect, branched and generally abundant and general. The roots are shallow, so they demand a lot of light.

Likewise, the beautiful Cayenne flower is much appreciated in such a way that it has been selected as a symbol of countries such as Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Hawaii. It is also the symbol of the Barranquilla Carnival in Colombia, and is the national flower of Malaysia.
