Farms: Cassava harvest.
Yesterday I was in state Sucre - Venezuela, we went to visit my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law. In my sister-in-law's house, I found a cassava crop.
The plant cassava a shrub that can reach 4 meters high and belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae. It is an appropriate food for all ages, especially for situations that require great physical wear and for athletes.
- It has vitamins of group B (B2, B6), vitamin C, K and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium and iron.
- It is a very digestive food and rich in carbohydrates.
- It is poor in fats
- It has a large amount of proteins.
- Helps to lower triglyceride levels.
- Beneficial to the nervous system
- It helps you lose weight.
The ideal time for harvest is when the soil around the plant cracks. They are usually harvested between 7 and 10 months. It is very important not to anticipate the harvest, since cassava will obtain a large amount of latex and will not be suitable for human consumption.
One of the plants was ready to be harvested. The harvest can be obtained manually or mechanically, but we must be careful not to damage the root of the plant. In this case, we decided to obtain the harvest manually, since it is the most common and simplest method for sandy soils. With the help of a manual tool (chicora), we loosened the soil and thus obtained our cassava faster. Finally we cover the hole with the same earth.
Happy harvesting, we @farms is pleased to see this post and find it of great value to this community

Thank you very much @farms
What a good harvest.
What did they prepare, how do they consume it?
We put a pot with water on the stove, remove the shell from the yucca, wash it and when it is boiling add salt and cassava. To know if it is ready, take a fork and pierce the yucca, if it is soft, it is sign that it is ready.
They is also make cassava arepas, cassava cake, fried yucca, etc.
