Cinnamon comes from a tree called cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum or Cinnamomum verum J.Presl) belongs to the family of Lauráceas, they are approximately 10 to 15 meters high, their leaves are perennial.

The cinnamon is extracted from the branches of this tree, that is to say from its inner bark that is obtained by peeling and rubbing the branches, then they are left to dry and curl up to form logs that result with a very special aroma, of sweet and woody flavor .

According to its provenance there are two types of cinnamon:

Cinnamon Cassia, is the most common comes from the Cassia tree (Cinnamomum aromaticum), is dark brown, are larger, thicker sticks and rough texture, its smell is more penetrating and strong.

The Ceylon Cinnamoncomes from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, its color is brown but lighter than cinnamon cassia, it is less common for that reason its value is greater, its aroma is softer and its flavor is delicate and slightly sweet being more used As a cooking spice, ideal desserts.

Both types of cinnamon Ceylon and Cassia are excellent for the treatment of diabetes, regulate blood sugar level and improve metabolic markers associated with insulin resistance, it is known to mainly help type 2 diabetics.

Although there are many benefits for the health of both types of cinnamon, it is important to point out that the Cassia type has a high level of coumarin, a toxin that can affect the liver if it is consumed in large quantities, therefore its consumption should be avoided. in large doses.

The cinnamon tree, where cinnamon comes from, is typical of warm and humid areas, so you can cultivate it better if that type of climate exists in your region.

It is not common to grow it in homes, since it is generally better suited to outdoor areas with a size of up to 15 meters, but it is also grown in the conditions of a pot, if it is kept at a height of approximately 120 centimeters, and It is considered that depending on the size of the pot the size of the plant is determined. In that sense, it is recommended to prune it to determine its size.

As for the land, it is required to be sandy and loose to develop.

It is a very decorative tree with very bright green leaves, produce white or yellowish flowers that later turns into purpureous black color where the seeds are housed, with which we can grow this tree.

Knowing this, it is necessary to know that this plant has two ways of cultivating, either through its seeds, or through cuttings (a piece of healthy bouquet that can give roots). Although both options are profitable if what we want is to obtain a tree where we can extract its bark.

If the seeds are planted you can obtain mature and healthy trees, we have the option of placing them in a container with soil and leaving it in a shady place, with the full awareness that it should be watered regularly, but not in excess.

After four (04) months the seedling will grow and depending on the case of how it is intended to grow it must be transplanted to a definite place, where it does not receive direct sun, but does receive light.

It must be clear that the first harvest will be obtained after two or three years, and then new shoots will grow after two years. To obtain cinnamon, the bark must be detached from the branches that you cut, considering that only the outer bark is edible and not the center.

From the middle part of the plant you get a cinnamon of better quality and the worst comes from the base. It is recommended to store it in a cool and dry place, and without exposure to air to avoid the loss of its aroma and flavor.

I use cinnamon every day in my tea with honey. In south America where I was born, there was a farm that had a cinnamon production. They had thousands of cinnamon trees, even the leaves when crushed smell nice.

It's good that you consume it for sure it will help you improve your health, but you should avoid consuming it in excess. Thanks for comment @sunsetsky
