WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE PLANTING GINGER
Ginger is a root that grows successfully in places of partial shade. Therefore, it will easily grow inside your house.
Although you can plant it in a pot, you can also use a large shallow pot. This will give you the ideal space to grow well. In addition, the roots will grow horizontally, so keep this in mind when choosing the pot, container or pot in which you wish to sow.
When the rhizome is already growing, small pieces can be taken. This will not be an impediment to your development in the pot. So, you can take small amounts to add to your dishes, make smoothies or drink tea.
When buying ginger, look very well in that it has no wrinkles, that it is not soft or moldy. The ginger you are going to use should be firm and you should have some green sprout. If the root has several buds, they can be cut and they can be put in different pots to obtain several plants. It is very important to buy ginger in a place of trust and, if possible, where organic products are sold. In any case, some people have succeeded in growing ginger with a supermarket root. If you can not get elsewhere, be sure to follow the recommendations. Finally, before sowing it, leave it overnight in water to remove pesticides and other impurities.

How to get the rhizome of ginger or root with sprout for planting
If you want to have the ginger plant in your garden take note of the first thing you have to do. First get yourself a good piece of ginger root or rhizome or leave it for a while in a place with some moisture so that the rhizomes are generated. To do this, you can put the piece of ginger root or several pieces in a glass with water to absorb it for 3 or 4 hours, then remove the pieces let them release a little water on an absorbent paper and then store them in a bag of closed plastic, preferably with a zipper, and wrap it with a cloth. After a week the first buds should leave on the piece of ginger rhizome.
Thus, the piece of ginger before being planted will have to have some finer roots, such as threads of different thickness, as well as small green bundles or buds through which the plant begins to draw stem

STEPS TO PLANT GINGER

  1. To begin, soak the root in warm water throughout the night. That way it will be ready for planting.

  2. Prepare the garden ground or the pot. Make sure you have adequate drainage to avoid waterlogging and prepare the fertilizer or humus and soil.

  3. Fill the soil or the pot with 1 part of fertilizer or humus and 3 parts of organic soil.

  4. Prepare the piece of root and, if you have enough space or several pots, cut it into pieces to have a bud in each piece and no more. Nothing happens if there are several pieces in one piece but if
There is space is better because the plants will grow more easily and with more space.

  5. To plant the ginger you do not have to make a hole and place and cover the piece, but it is much better to bury it superficially. Put the ginger root on the ground, with the bud pointing up. Fill with one or two additional inches of soil and carefully and gently move it to sink a bit into the mixed earth, until more or less buried by only half and leaving the buds or buds out.

  6. Moisten the earth, but not excessively. Then, place the ginger pot in a warm place, but without excess heat. water the earth a little without touching the rhizomes directly, but around it, and you can put the pot where you want, taking into account what we tell next.

  7. It is best to keep it during its first stage of development in an area where it receives little light and at a temperature of about 20 ºC. It should never be at a temperature below 10 ºC.

  8. Now that you already have ginger planted in a pot or in your garden, you will be interested to know that after 3 or 4 months since it begins to grow, you can harvest some small pieces of roots for your own use. To do this, remove the soil a bit by an edge until you find a rhizome and cut the right amount needed. Re-cover the rhizome well with the earth and it will continue to grow.

INDICATIONS
Finally, ginger is a slow-growing plant that requires moderate doses of heat and moisture. From the sowing you must make sure that the soil remains a little moist. Also that the plant is at an adequate temperature.
One of the advantages of growing ginger at home, is that it is a plant that grows well without the need of direct sunlight, so we can grow it indoors, an advantage! In addition to its medicinal properties for humans, it can also be used as a natural air freshener.
