THEORY OF USING ASPIRIN IN URBAN AGRICULTURE

Aspirin is a very interesting medicine that can help you to have plants in your pots much healthier and stronger, able to resist the attack of fungi and bacteria more strongly and to increase the development and productivity of plants. Yes, plants suffer stress as any living being moderately aware of their own existence. In stressful situations such as a fire, an animal that attacks them or someone who prunes them, plants make salicylic acid (aspirin) to feel better, recover and continue living. However, some plants do not always make salicylic acid fast enough and that is why adding water with a certain dose of aspirin could help them to have a bad time.
Aspirin contains an active ingredient known as salicylic acid that improves the immune system of plants, especially those of the Solanaceae family. The specimens submitted to this treatment manage to increase the potency of their immunity, which helps them in the fight against the pests and the microbial attack and prevents the formation of fungi, leading to a higher growth rate of the plants.

ASPIRINS TO REINFORCE DEFENSES AGAINST FUNGI:
The use of this medication can also help prevent the appearance of fungal diseases. Verticillium and Fusarium wilt are diseases produced by common fungi distributed in the soil and can destroy a whole crop in a matter of days. Fortunately, simply sprinkle the foliage or soak the seeds with an aspirin solution to significantly reduce the spread of fungi in the plant. It is also useful in the case of blight.
Since salicylic acid is the active ingredient of aspirin, when a solution with this medicine is sprayed on the plants, the amount of salicylic acid in them increases, improving their immune system, protecting the seedlings and adult specimens from diseases transmitted by soil, bacteria and fungi.
The plants are usually sprayed with an aspirin solution dissolved in distilled water. The drug is especially effective for protection against diseases in the Solanaceae family that include tomatoes or potatoes.

SOURCE

ASPIRIN AS A ROOTING HORMONE:
Salicylic acid can also be of great help in favoring the rooting of the cuttings, since it has been proven that its application has helped to ensure this type of propagation with a high success rate. For this, a cup of distilled water is taken and a tablet not coated with aspirin is dissolved and the cut end of the plant is placed in that rooting solution for a few hours before proceeding to planting.

SOURCE

USE OF ASPIRIN IN THE CARE OF PLANTS:
The application of aspirin in gardening should be kept in mind that the excess dose may end up burning or causing another type of damage to the plant. The correct dose should not be more than one pill per liter of water. The tablet must be well crushed and you must ensure its total dissolution before spraying. The compound solution should be applied to the gardens every three weeks during the growing season, allowing to obtain plants that develop more quickly and with a greater production of fruits
It is better to spray the application in the morning, because at that time of the day the plants have a better absorption. Likewise, it avoids damaging pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies, which are more active towards midday and also give plants enough time to dry.
An aspirin is recommended every two gallons of water to spray leaves, stems and even seeds. The studies carried out with the latter showed that 100% of the sprays with the aspirin water germinated, while the percentage of germinated seeds among those that only received common water was much lower. In summary, a little water with aspirin can allow the plant to defend itself against the diseases and parasites that sometimes afflict them by biting their stems and leaves. It is a remedy that we could consider as "homemade", because it is economical and within our reach.

MAKE YOUR FLOWERS LAST LONGER
If you are someone who enjoys decorating your home with fresh flowers you will get them to last a lot longer if you put an aspirin in the vase. Acetylsalicylic acid, by reducing the production of ethylene makes the flowers stay the same as the first day longer. In addition, it delays the appearance of bacteria.

SOURCE

IMPROVES YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
Whether they are indoors or outdoors, plants have to face numerous problems every day if they want to get ahead: changes in temperature, drought or excess moisture, pests ... All this can weaken your immune system, which will end for making them very vulnerable.

THE BENEFIT OF USING ASPIRINE IN PLANTS
Apparently, plants produce small amounts of salicylic acid by themselves when stressed. This small amount helps the plants to overcome when they are under attack of insects, drought, lack of nutrients or maybe even going through some disease.
This component helps boost the immune system of the plant, just as it does with us.
Some aspirin dissolved in water applied to irrigation accelerate germination, rooting and some resistance to diseases and pests.
It has been shown that aspirin in orchards increases the size and yield of the plant.
The plant is better prepared against microbial or insect attack.
The substance also seems to keep the flowers cut also for longer in the vases.
Salicylic acid seems to block the release of a hormone that drives death after cutting. The cut flowers will eventually die but, in general, you can add some time by using aspirin in the plants.

TIPS ON HOW TO USE ASPIRINE
It is important to use pure aspirin without other compounds such as flavoring or effervescent tablet
There are some potential side effects if aspirin is used incorrectly.
Plants can develop brown spots and you can get to burn their foliage.
The best way to prevent this situation is by spraying early in the morning so that the day's sun evaporates moisture from the leaves of the plants before nightfall.
Observe your plants to see what the response to treatment is.
It is also better to spray early to avoid damaging any beneficial insect. Bees and other pollinators are more active once the sun has set, so a period of time before the arrival of the sun is best.
Not all plants can be suitable for aspirin treatment, but it has been shown that the family of solanaceous eggplants, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes benefit greatly.
Best of all, aspirin is quite economical and will not harm plants if applied correctly.
