Great post. We have a plant in my area called wintergreen. It grows close to the ground and has leaves that contain an aspirin-like chemical that might reduce pain, swelling, and fever. It has red-edible berries. When you crack the leaves they give of a wintergreen-peppermint smell. You can often find the berries in the middle of winter too.
