HOW TO PREPARE THE SULFOCALCOCO BROTH FOR THE CONTROL OF PESTS AND DISEASES IN CULTIVATION

Hello friend of the farms in this opportunity I am going to talk about an ecological alternative that you can control the pests and diseases of the crop and has the name of the sufocalcico broth. The ecological imbalance in which nature finds itself forces us to look for alternative methods for the control of insects, fungi, viruses, etc., which are not chemical since the latter are the main environmental disequilibrators. For this reason, biodynamic preparations and organic preparations are used in a preventive manner; however, you can not risk production. Therefore, it is possible to resort to the use of some minerals that exert a more rigorous control and that are also a source of food for the vegetable.
Within these mineral broths SULFOCALCICO is a preparation of proven efficiency for the control of phytosanitary problems and easy preparation and access to the ingredients.
This broth consists of a mixture of sulfur powder (20 kilos) and lime (10 kilos), which is boiled in water for 45 to 60 minutes, forming a chemical combination called "calcium polysulfide".
This is a very practical way to make sulfur soluble in water, through lime and the pressure of the heat it receives during the time the mixture is boiling.
The sulfocalcic broth was used for the first time to bathe cattle against scabies, being only in 1886, in California, proven its viability as a product with insecticidal characteristics. In 1902 this mixture passed into the popular domain and, from that time, began to be widely disseminated and used, mainly for the control of mealybugs, mites, aphids and thrips.
The sulfocalcic broth is a very useful mineral broth to control diseases caused by fungi in crops. It also controls pests in vegetables and provides nutrients for the growth, flowering and fructification of plants, in this article we will teach how to produce and apply this product to crops.
The sulfocalcic broth is a lime and sulfur preparation that, when applied to diseased plants, besides controlling the pathogen, penetrates the cells of the plant and participates in the formation of amino acids and proteins.

THE SULFUR
It is finely ground with selected inert materials, has applications such as fungicide, acaricide and insecticide, as well as being part of the plant development processes as it is a nutrient considered within the necessary macro-elements.

LIME

To obtain the best results it is essential to use lime (CaO) of the best quality, which has at least 90% calcium oxide and hopefully no more than 5% magnesium content, because it forms insoluble compounds that increase the amount of sediment formed. The sooner the lime is turned off, the better, because the heat released helps the cooking.

SOURCE

To make 200 liters of sulfocalcic broth, the following materials are required:
Ingredients:
-20 Kg of sulfur powder.
-10 Kg of quicklime or off.
-200 liters of water.
-1 Large metal basin or container.
-1 wood burner or stove.
-2 tablespoons of edible oil.

PREPARATION

Place the boiling water in the metal bucket and take care to constantly maintain the volume of water.

After the water is boiling, add the sulfur and simultaneously the lime with great care, mainly with sulfur, because in direct contact with the flames of the fire is flammable. Another alternative is to mix dry, both lime and sulfur in a container, then add it slowly to the boiling water.

Stir the mix constantly with the wooden rocking chair for approximately 45 minutes to one hour; the stronger the fire, the better prepared the broth will be.

At this time it is lowered from the heat and allowed to cool. In the container or pit, a white cream (calcium carbonate) is formed, the liquid turns into red wine and a paste remains in the bottom. Remove the cream, strain the liquid and add two tablespoons of edible oil, pack in dark jars or plastic bottles away from direct sunlight, do not store more than 6 months.

The paste is stirred with mineral oil and serves to prevent fungus and diseases in newly pruned trees, cures cattle scabies, pigs and dogs; the same paste can be added to a Compost, Bocaschi, Supermagro, in small proportions to enhance the content of sulfur and calcium.

ADVANTAGE:
Obtaining very healthy harvests by decreasing the use and frequency of pesticides.
Decreases the risk of poisoning. These materials are not toxic to human health or to free range animals.
Decrease production costs. The value of the sulfocalcic broth generates few expenses compared with pesticides, mainly if it is prepared by the farmer himself.
It improves the ecosystem, because it is a natural product and will always maintain an ecological balance.

APPLICATIONS
-The sulfocalcic broth is effective to control diseases, pests and mites.

-For the control of gout in potato and tomato, half a liter of broth is used for every 20 liters of water, when the attack is severe one liter is used for the same amount of water.

-In fruit trees for fungal diseases, depending on the severity of the attack use up to two liters per pump of 20 liters.

-To control fungal diseases in vegetables apply from 50cc to ½ liter per pump of 20 liters, depending on the severity of the disease.

-Dilute half a liter of the sulfocalcic broth in 20 liters of water for the control of pests in vegetables (thrips, whitefly, mites).

-Dilute 2 liters of sulfocalcium broth in 20 liters of water for the control of aphids, red spider and fungal diseases caused by the fungus Phythophthora in fruit trees.

-Dilute three quarts of the sulfocalcic broth in 20 liters of water as foliar fertilizer, provide sulfur and calcium to the crop, if the ashes were added to the sulfocalcic broth it also provides potassium and silicon

-In legumes only up to 1/2 liter per 20 liter pump, but do not apply in flowering.

-In tender shoots of grapes or citrus only 40 cc is applied per pump of 20 liters.

-Sulfur is an excellent acaricide.

-To control the cattle fly, mix one liter of broth for every 9 of water and fumigate every 8 days.

-Finally, this paste is intended to be used in the treatment of trunks and branches of trees that are attacked mainly by woodlice, drill bits or drills and trees that have suffered pruning or that are also suffering from cancer, mainly in crops of avocado, mango and citrus.

RECOMMENDATIONS
-DO NOT FUMIGATE during the flowering season.

-DO NOT APPLY on plants of the cucurbitaceae family such as squash, cucumber, melon, watermelon, etc.

-Legumes should not be sprayed when in bloom.

-The sulfocalcic broth should not be applied to the plants of the Cucurbitaceas family (zucchini, cucumber, melon, pumpkin and watermelon).

-To help protect newly pruned trees and stimulate the healing of them, it is recommended to mix one kilogram of sulfocalcic paste in two liters of water. Its application is directly on the affected parts and is done with a brush or a thick brush.

-In order to control the cochineal and repel many insects, it is recommended, with the help of a brush or brush, to paint the trunks and branches of the trees that are or may be affected. For this purpose, one kilogram of sulfocalcic paste is diluted in three liters of water. Investigate other ways to give utilities to this by-product.

-This sulfocalcic paste also serves to aid the rapid recovery of fruit trees whose trunks and branches are covered by much moss and lichens, for which it is recommended to clean the trees with a steel brush and then brush them with the sulfocalcic paste.

CONCLUSION
Our experience with the use of this product has been excellent, in the cultivation of the parchita it reduces in an important way the incidence of anthracnose in the stem, we use it as foliar fertilizer in cabbage so demanding in these two nutrients and we save a planting of attacked paprika per powdery mildew inside a greenhouse.
