FARMS: PIG FARMING( in the order of farms)
Hi every one, how was your night? i hope every thing is fine.
As the ongoing project on farm Daily contribution initiated by my mentor @sirknight, this is my own contribution about pig farming.
Pig animals do like the mud to cool off. Baby pigs are cute. In the old times, hogs ran wild in the woods and ate acorns and whatever else they found.
They were skinnier and tougher and were called razorbacks. There after, hogs were put in pens and they used to lay around in mud and garbage.
This is the reason that people used to think of pigs as being dirty.
Pigs are omnivorous. They eat wathever they fing on their way Did you know they eat each other's tail? I was shock the first time i saw it.and occasionaly their babies?
Jewish people don't avoid eating pork, it's prohibited in judaism as well as in islam. In judaism the prohibition comes from the book of leviticus.
pigs were the filthiest animals. the human body is seen as sacred and it was prohibited to eat an animal so unholy that eats his own feces. To this day in third world countries pigs choose to be in garbage. Today in developped countries farmers raise hogs on livestock farms. The animals are kept on clean pastureland or in clean buildings.
Altough they still eat feces. Another source The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger known that exist In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs. Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature.
They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.
Pigs are most commonly associated with eating not only their own feces, but those of other animals and humans.
In parts of the third world, where villager dwellers excrete in the open, pigs are known to eat this excretia. wikipedia Pigs harbour a range of parasites and diseases that can be easily transmitted to humans.
Advantages of Pig Farming in Nigeria. The reproduction period and system of pig is faster than any other livestock like cattle or goats. Pig can convert more energy/nutrient into protein and as a result they grow faster than cattle, goats or other livestock animals.
The secret to good pig farming is to improve on their sanitation, natural feed (cassava, corn, potatoes, grains, palm kernel, dried fish) and addressing their health problems. Moore admitted that pig farming can be profitable through good breeding (process of giving birth to piglets
