HARVESTING ANON. Sweet fruit - soft and healthy.
Today my family and I were able to harvest anions, ripe and ready to consume them. The anón also called with names like kidney, wart, custard apple, cherimoya or saramuyo, has a very juicy pulp that does not support much time of manipulation after being harvested, this fruit can only be in good condition until 6 days after ripe. And during this time it is recommended that it be kept refrigerated since it quickly starts a rotting process and is damaged. So when it's ripe, let's seize the moment to eat it.
Inside it is formed by a white pulp and is full of small oblong seeds of only 1.5 mm in length. This fruit belongs to the Annonaceae family and its scientific name is Annona squamosa.
The Anon is native to the Atlantic slope of the Peruvian Andes, however we can find it in different areas of the American continent. Generally we can get it in areas with tropical climates, with acidic or neutral soils as long as they have a slight humidity. It does not require a particular soil and develops well in sandy, limy and clayey-heavy soils provided they have good drainage. It is intolerant to floods.
When it matures, we can eat it by removing the skin, or by cutting it in half, finding a white or beige pulp, with brown seeds. It is super delicious, with exquisite flavor, fragrant aroma and has a very sweet flavor.
This fruit has many beneficial properties for our health. It contains high levels of protein, carbohydrates and fiber. Within the vitamins contains thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and ascorbic acid. It is also a good source of vitamin C and iron. It also has high contents of calcium, phosphorus and potassium.
We can get them in two colors: Green and Purple, for me the purple anon is the best.
Do not miss the opportunity to eat a delicious and healthy Anon.
