The soursop: tropical and tasty

source

Hello, dear and kind steemians. In this opportunity I bring you information about a fruit called guanabana, although in Venezuela it is also known as catuche. This fruit I love particularly and although it is not an economical fruit in my country, there are people from the countryside who have even a bush sown in a space of their garden with the intention of tasting this fruit.

The soursop (Annona muricata) is a tropical fruit that prefers areas with warm climates. Although it is not yet certain of its initial origin, it is known that it is native of South America. It is a fruit with a pleasant flavor, green skin and tips that resemble a hedgehog. Its pulp is white and contains seeds. It can measure up to 30cmt. The plant also called guanabana can grow between 3 and 8 meters high. Its trunk is not very small and its leaves are long.

This is known by different names: catuche, guanábana, head of black, heart of india, sinini, among others (I confess that I only knew it for guanábana and catuche).

Benefits and properties of the soursop:

Among the properties that stand out of this fruit, we have that it is rich in vitamin B and C, fiber, phosphorus, calcium and other important minerals for our organism. Thanks to this, the consumption of guanabana has the following benefits:

Improves circulation
Helps digestion.
It is a source of fructose, which contributes carbohydrates to our body.
It is antidepressant.
Maintains the health of bones and teeth.
Reduces blood pressure.
Eliminates parasites.
Clean the liver.
Vasodilator.
Reduces fever and promotes milk production.
Pain relieving.
Currently, it is believed to have anticancer properties, however, no studies have been done to prove this information.

Uses of the soursop:

This fruit can be consumed raw or in juices. Generally, the seed is extracted and the pulp that covers it is eaten. To make the juices, put the pulp next to the seeds and let it soak. After a while, move with a spoon and strain to extract the seeds and take it. Milk can be added to this mixture, if desired. Of the two forms it is excellent. This drink is very refreshing.
The leaves of the soursop can be used to make tea or infusions to treat diabetes problems, slimming processes, sleep, among others.

To end with this publication, it is important to emphasize that the consumption of this fruit can cause some adverse effects in some people, so it is advisable to be careful when consuming it.
