Oooo lil flyin' robot <3<3<3 I hope its okay ;)
I love this, some proper punk protagonists, their struggle and revolution mirroring the ides, their romance both providing a soft symphony for this to play out over, as well as being such a brilliant punk mirror to the roman indulgences. The teasing through conversation contrast the passions of war so very well. Did i pink up the hint of a more open relationship in there? (although could also be taken as same sex love not being okay under the oppression they have escaped and therefore husband, which ties into so long since they've been together) A very nice touch, you do so much for the cause (to get more action in our fiction :p) as well as casting a shadow of oppression, the lengths people have to go to, the lives they live struggling for their freedom, and how they spend it, when they have it.
Weaving punk music into this is a great touch, because of course our farmpunk rebels would have that complete classic punk vibe. The outfit detail is so beautiful, and so many Ides elements tied in there.
I love that the freedom they are enjoying is not necessarily a permanent state, defences already laid for the next wave of action. Feels like pared down, it could be a chapter in broader novel.

I was more feeling a Spanish Civil War in terms of a day after (which so happened to be in the Roman Empire but not the main site of conflict), but of course I took the Ides, Roman/Latin and Punk feelings to the roof with this one as yah noted and talked at great length about. (Yes yer right: she okayed her kids’ and grandkids’ same sex and pansexual love in secrecy. As, out-canon since I didn’t felt the need to but hinted at without fetishizing, she did had pansexual love under a worker’s state before the Capitalist regime came to repress that. So she did had to settle with her male partner and both had to pretend being hetero [both very much felt being forced into a corrections and a “normalcy” they couldn’t feel great about].) I love injecting things from other communities across the web to breathe new life or reinvigorate dead ones; this so happened to be contingently useful to rethink the whole Shambler Saga but outside the nation I was focused in on. But the comment in here still remains very much true~

As they fight inside their kingdom of necessity, does their freedom ever feel more powerful than a vulgar freedom which they can commit but to no real climax. As such, upon securing their kingdom of necessity can they become the kingdom of freedom, where life truly can be free. Because they have not only recognized what needed to be recognized but their actions no longer needing to feel necessitated to feel free. But in any a case, I feel more for a novella but I definitely would want to consider transforming this story one day to a novella.
