Hello, My name is Nick Hans! I love to play music, and I think we can save the world with a handful of worms

Hi folks! I've been a part of the Steem community for just about a month, and I have decided now is the perfect time to finally say what's up, and properly introduce myself on this wonderful platform.

I was born in Tennessee. I traveled extensively, and then I spent many years as a musician in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now I live in Taos NM, which is a small and beautiful town tucked away in the mountains of northern New Mexico.

I have a small farm right outside of town called Karhu Farms. I just relocated my farm from another location here in Taos. I built everything on this farm with my own two hands just this year! Karhu means bear in Finnish. We do have bears here, but I only have a picture of our farm, not a bear. Bears don't seem to like cameras too much.

I dream big. I mean huge. By that, I mean I think that we can reclaim our food system AND reverse climate change,

And I believe we can do this through one simple thing:

Earthworms!

Let me explain. Earthworms create a microbial colony of bacteria and fungus. These bacteria and fungus can then be proliferated and spread onto the fields, where we can grow plentiful amounts of healthy, clean, and biologically active food.

These bacteria and fungus can hold water in place by the roots of our food, GREATLY reducing water consumption. This is very important in a dry climate like Taos, NM. And, most importantly, they can remove MORE carbon from the atmosphere than they create. That is called carbon sequestration.

Carbon is what turns soil black. The blacker soil gets, the more carbon you are removing from the atmosphere.

It has been estimated that if we, as a species, work together and put about 35% of our farmable land on the planet into this new (and also ancient) style of agriculture, we can REVERSE the output of CO2 by humanity, even while the big polluters continue polluting at the current rates.

That is HUGE, my friends. That means we have the power to work together and make this a reality. It puts the power of DIRECT ACTION in the hands of people like you and me. We don't have to beg and plead with big oil or anyone else to please stop, we can fight back on our own terms.

Playing good tunes, providing healthy and living food to my community, and SAVING the damn planet with a bunch of earthworms, that is exactly what I want to do with my life and what I plan to share with you.
