Mutualism In The Fields
If you zoom in on the picture, you can see all those bees swarming to work!
We noticed a little while ago, the field opposite ours had bee hives placed in the headland. It wasn’t likely the farmer just took on beekeeping, so either he contacted a beekeeper or vice versa.
Mutualism in Farming
This weekend, the Old Man received a phone call from the same beekeeper. The beekeeper got his number from the other farmer. He asked if he could set up bee hives in his sunflower fields. Absolutely!
The farmer gets the benefit of his sunflowers being pollinated by the bees, potentially increasing yield, while the beekeeper gets the benefit of the honey. Win-win!
The Big Man says he will ask the beekeeper if we can buy some of his honey once he collects it. The Old Man says there’s nothing like sunflower honey. (Not sure how he knows this, but that is what he said.) Nothing like stocking up on local honey!
Excellent, working together benefits many!
Oh and I would try some sunflower honey, I'm sure it is good!
I’m really hoping we can get a lot from him. I’d love to share some with my steem family.
He stopped by the hives yesterday to “service” them. Collect honey? I’m not sure what servicing a bee hive entails. I wonder how long until the honey is ready?!
"Sharing is caring" hahaha...well I hope you get gallons of it!
Good deal! Would love to try some sunflower honey!
I have your address, maybe you’ll get some in the mail!
Happy to pay for it!

So cool! Good for you!
mutualism? uh..no. no one wants to do business with me. oh wait! Steemit is total mutualism isn't it? yeah I love mutualism, I do it all the time!
Those fields of Sunflowers are just stunning to me but makes me a little homesick for Kansas.
Steemit is total mutualism! In fact, that reminded me of a post I read long time ago. Here it is: https://steemit.com/community/@negativer/steemit-community-and-the-power-of-guilt
I think you’ll get a kick out of it!
hahaha! thanks @hebrewhousewife I loved it! and it was 6 months ago, in steemit time that was centuries ago! and it still applies. lol
working together can always be more fruitful. Will this change the taste too?
According to my husband’s father, it makes the honey taste great.
Surely because of the surroundings , looks like a very good technique 💯
That sounds like some awesome honey!
My husband said his dad knows about the honey taste from years ago, when they did this same thing. So we’ll see!
We have bees down here that we are taking care of. So that they will pollinate the thing that we need them to when we start planting things and we are also harvesting the honey, but we have to be careful because these bees are killer bees.
Killer bees?! Sounds dangerous
