Standing on the edge of the cliff, Vince seemed to see the world around him. The view up there was the nicest scenario he had seen yet. The tree tops arranged to look like pieces of a cross puzzle placed in their exact positions. All was still. The wind which had been brewing when he got up to meet Crayon at the top of the cliff had ceased to give way to some quiet, time to reflect on the consequences of the abomination he had just committed. But he felt no remorse and that was what worried him even more. It wasn't like killing loved ones was something he enjoyed. Yet, seeing Crayon's body floating away, driven by the tide seemed to give him joy rather than regret. The blood still colored the water and his eyes forever staring into the great beyond, but he sure was dead. Good riddance. Perhaps he deserved it. Or did he?

He looked down to examine his hands. The glittering was slowing down to a stop now and his hand no longer vibrated. The surge of unimaginable currents of electricity had died down.
What's going on?

He wondered how he had gotten to that height. Looking down, he was surprised to see Crayon's body flowing out of sight.
"Haaaaaaaaa! "

Jerking up suddenly, he sat upright amid the headache that was blasting his brains like bread in an oven. He wondered if there were some tablets of asprins left in the cubicle. He had taken what seemed like the last one just before he had slept. He swung his legs down from the bed and headed for the dresser.
It must be the fault of these dreams. I'm I mad?
"How can I kill Crayon?"
" You can't "

He turned from the mirror to see Crayon walking in. He had this exciting expression on his face, the type he had on when he managed to beat Jenia in the game of flying cards.
He shrugged. "I'm just too good for you, not my fault."

He flipped through the books in Vince's bagpack looking for something. It was nice to see him bustling with excitement. Not that he had ever had a spell of moodiness but the sorry sight that was his dead body hadn't looked a bit attractive. He hoped such a thing would never happen. Crayon was the closest thing to a brother he had.

Ever since he discovered the crazy ability he had, he had always been careful with him having not yet mastered it's control. He hoped Crayon doesn't notice his reservations when it came to dueling. Yesterday, he had almost run out of excuses and would have had to tell the truth had Mrs. Mantel not diverted their attention. He wondered how much longer he'd have to keep the information from him especially as he was getting better at his vision classes. That was the only area yet he hadn't ventured into, yet. It seemed to be the most tasking. He wished it didn't have to be him. Being the choice wasn't the best of future he had hoped for.
"That's not what I meant."
"But you've got to be careful you know. I could just blast you dead next time you call my name in your dream. "
Vince turned to look at Crayon who was busy mumbling some words from a page of a magic text he had picked from Vince's bagpack.
" I was calling your name? "
Crayon looked up at him momentarily. "You didn't know? "
" F'cos, I did not." Crayon gave him a bemused stare before returning back to mumbling words from the book.
He turned his back to him not wanting the boy to read the surprise on his face. He wondered if Mrs. Mantel knew about it too.
"I have been really stressed out these days having to study extra hours to meet up," he opined hoping that the ever trusting Crayon would buy into it.
"Hmm..."

He seemed not to be paying attention as he kept mumbling to himself, no doubt learning something new that he'd use to outsmart his friends. Vince turned back, crouching to search for the aspirin he hoped would be hiding somewhere away from sight. He'd hate to think that he'd have to carry the headache out to get some more from the pharmacy.
"Ehm...Vince, I don't get what this word says. Should it.... "
The surge of electricity came rushing in and reaching his eyes, he saw it.

Crayon carrying his books in his hand excitement clearly etched on his eyebrows. He skipped towards the school's long corridor where some ladies were chatting idly. A boy came along gliding, his fancy skate board shiny new. The excitement seeing the perfection at which these guys rode the device had not worn off from him since he first saw one of them with it two weeks ago. He watched as the guy jumped over some pieces of iron fittings on the floor to land perfectly on the board without so much as a sweat. It was damn beautiful to watch. He was surely going to learn to use one of those someday.

He turned to go when he heard screams from behind. Turning back, he saw Crayon laying sprawled on the floor, his books scattered in several directions. Vince's feet suddenly froze as the air squeezed out of his lungs. Crayon was lying lifeless with a cut to his throat and blood gushing out.

He was back to his consciousness but felt his body numb even as Crayon shook him. He could only make out Crayon calling on Mrs. Mantel before he lost the struggle against the waxing unreality.
"Mum help, Vince has fainted again!"
