Into Knightmare

in #fantasy7 years ago (edited)

First off let me preface this with a warning my worst subject in school was english and composition there will likely be punctuation and grammatical errors perhaps even spelling errors.

This is the opening paragraph in my short story Into Knightmare it is based on a dream I actually had thankfully for me it is not recurring.

                                Into Knightmare
Ch 1. Waking into the Dream

Off and on since he was 6 years old Ren was plagued by a recurring nightmare. He would wake up in a strange place and he would look around then somewhere a zombie would attack him. He would wake up just as he died. With each dream, he would make different choices and extend the dream further and further. The dream had turned his waking world into a place where he would prepare for the next dream. He would work to learn new skills various marital arts along with weapon use and physical conditioning. Throughout high school he had expanded his knowledge taking whatever he thought might be useful in his dream Linguistics, Shop class, Metal working, Occult studies, Biology, Chemistry and Geology all were part of his field of study. To many on the outside his interests seemed random and a little chaotic like he could not decide what they were but he excelled in each area with very little work this caused him to gain several nicknames such as; The 30-minute pro, Aimless Ace, Jack of None. As he grew older and out of areas to study he cultivated many hobbies delving into anime and fiction with his main interests being Horror, Sci-fi and Fantasy. Other activities included wilderness survival and hiking he did not care for sports but he maintained a rather strict level of fitness. If he applied himself was able to perform rather well but due to lack of interest would never commit to being on the team citing he was too busy to formally join any team. The problem was his skill was too great to just let go like that and the team captain’s all approached Ren and made him an offer they thought he could not refuse. If he agreed to help out with competition games or if a member gets injured or sick and can’t compete he would come in as a stand in if he agreed to this they would pay him $100 per game. Reluctantly he agreed on the condition the whole team was ok with it and that he would be allowed to skip practice if he wished.
