From my personal point of view. It was considered a taboo, it was something that made it hard for mothers to talk to their daughters.

The girls were almost innocent, inexperienced, while the boys were not so expert but they had less to lose.

But now if girls get pregnant it's because they want to. Right now there are many campaigns against NOT getting pregnant in adolescence. The high schools are going to give them talks. But they don't pay attention.
Then they want society to take responsibility for their "mistake" of their fault.

I have my teenage daughter she is very clear about that, but in her high school have already seen many cases of pregnant girls that the parents reject her, when the main culprits were them.
