RESCUED FROM THE LION'S JAW, A TRUE LIFE STORY.

Today I want to tell the story of Max, a young Nigerian boy that was saved from the claws of the vicious baby sellers in Nigeria by a sheer stroke of luck, but before I go into that, I want to appreciate @familyprotection, @canadian-coconut, @markwhittam and to every other Steemian who are standing up to fight this course, I say may we never get tired or discouraged.

The events below is a true life story that happened in Aba in Nigeria, but for privacy reasons, I have changed the names of the characters involved.

Sarah just turned eighteen (18), and was looking very beautiful, she had all the right curves at the right places, and her face had that babyish look that gave her a very angelic look. At eighteen and looking all ripe, all the young men on the street were trying to woo her and even the older men were not left out.

It wasn't long and Sarah's mother discovered Sarah was pregnant, after so much beating from the parents, the normal Nigerian style, Sarah told them it was Mr. Ibe that got her pregnant.

Mr. Ibe is a married man with four children, and he succeeded in taking advantage of the innocence of Sarah. Sarah's parents took her to Mr. Ibe's house but he denied and rejected the pregnancy. Sarah's father could not bear the shame, how could he, a worker in the church, and his own daughter is pregnant outside wedlock.

Sarah was thrown out by her parents and was denied by Mr. Ibe the man responsible for her pregnancy, hence she had no where to go to as non of her relatives agreed to take her in with the bastard child she was carrying.

With no other place to turn to, a friend took her to an ante-natal/maternity care home and they promised to take care of her at no cost until she puts to bed. The maternity care home was very kind and good to Sarah, she was well fed, given her medications as at when due, and was never allowed to carry out any strenuous chores.

Nine months later Sarah put to bed, she was delivered of a bouncing baby boy and he was named Maxwell, a very beautiful baby boy. Two weeks after delivery, Sarah wanted to go home, so she had to go greet the Matron of the care home, and also say her good byes to the other pregnant girls under the care of the home.

The matron told Sarah, that she has to pay her bills, when Sarah objected saying that she was told that the home was a charity organisation and all the services were free of charge, but she was shocked when she was given a bill of a million naira. She tried to plead with the matron but all her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Sarah's baby was taken from her and she was thrown out. Sarah returned home and told her parents her ordeal, but her parents were not rich and didn't have that kind of money, he was now regretting throwing his daughter out, he had no male child as all Sarah's siblings were girls, and now his first grandson someone wants to take him away.

A neighbour who lives on the same street heard about what happened and decided to take up the matter, he went to the police, but the police refused doing anything because the man that runs the care home is very influential and has most of the police officers in his pocket. He then went to the care home and after so much hassle and arguments the neighbour paid the bills and took Max from the care center and returned him to his mom.

Today Max is about twelve years old (12) and living happily with his mom and siblings.

Imagine that the neighbour back then didn't play the role of a good Samaritan and there was no one to step in on their behalf, today Max won't be with his family, Sarah would have lost her baby and would have been devastated.

This kind of thing is happening all over Nigeria, and people loose their baby with no one to fight or speak out for them it's time we lend our voice and speak for them.

Sort:

May God safe us in this country. Crime everywhere!

And if we don't speak out it won't stop

God help us all, @familyprotection continue the selfless work

This is our sad reality. A good one Royalty.
