CPS: Pipeline To Disaster

The problem of CPS snatching children from loving families, in what amounts to legalized kidnapping, has become so pervasive that an entire industry has sprung up around it... with often tragic consequences. In a recent Senate Committee report, in excess of 33% of children are abused while in foster care. Others are pipelined into the underworld sex trafficking market. Many are put by CPS into privately owned "care facilities" while awaiting placement with foster families. One such company is currently under investigation, the Mentor Network where the death rate among children in their care is 42% higher than the national average (see links). The same Senate report states that 1600 children a year are dying while in foster care, not to mention many more that are abused... Yet nobody is even reporting the abuse.

In yesterday's post I talked about the Children's Defense Fund being one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the nation's capital, but instead of lobbying for children, they're lobbying on behalf of CPS while no one is speaking for the children. CPS is just an instrument- not to help children and families, but to destroy them. There's a much larger agenda at play of which CPS is a small but integral facet. It's virtually inarguable that in it's history (1973) CPS has done more damage than good as far as children and families are concerned. It's also ironic that CPS was established the same year as the CDF. Statistics show that children are 6.9 times more likely to die after being removed from their home than in a family milieu. Yet more and more children are being removed from their homes... Why? Where is the media coverage? Where is the outrage.

Not only are children dying at an alarming rate, sexual abuse is rampant in foster care as well. So many children are being removed from loving homes that the need for foster homes has skyrocketed and people convicted of multiple crimes (including kidnapping) are being allowed to care for displaced children. Sexual abuse is rampant. In a study done by Psychology Today, in the state of New York alone statistics show that 28% of children in foster care are sexually abused. Interviews with the clients themselves show that figure to be exceedingly low. One girl who was in the "system" for seven years says that 9 out of 10 children she spoke to was abused (see link). Foster care has also become a pipeline for sex trafficking. These traffickers play on the children's need for affection to lure them into situations where they are exploited (see link).

It's unlikely that CPS was designed with the intention of forcibly removing children and putting them into situations where they are abused or killed. However, where there's money involved it opens the door to corruption and like Sen. Schaefer showed in the video I posted yesterday, CPS has become a cesspool of corruption and abuse. It's time to rethink the child welfare system in America and give the children back to their natural parents.
