More lawsuits
Several months ago several individuals that went through BC’s child services launched a lawsuit against the government for the abuse they suffered in the system.
One of the things I pointed out the was that the bc government wasn’t going to voluntarily change how they work, it was going to take this court case and others like it to force the change.
The hope is others would step up and sue as well.
The good news. That’s happening.
Another law suit has started up in Alberta and the amount of information on how Alberta family services works is staggering.
And kind of depressing.

The case involves a man convicted of abusing children having permission of the province to be in the same house as foster kids... which he then abused.
How on earth does someone with a conviction, known to the foster system, get the ok to live with foster kids?
The hope now though is new safeties are put In place for these kids... and the judge orders a lot of punitive damages to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
