How was your Christmas??
The Christmas days are over again, two (or actually three) day's of enjoying family and friends. Although I think Christmas is often an obligation to visit family it does have something warm and fun.
Christmas eve
At Christmas eve we had fondue with our friends who stay at our house for some time now. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, good friends of us stay (with us) in our house for some weeks before they can move to their temporarly home. Aligned with the Christmas spirit we offered them to stay with us for those weeks. And I must say, we truely have a great time, although the couch turns out to be a bit small for all of us :)
First Christmas day
Every year on of the days of Christmas we go to (or they come at our place) to my parents in law to celebrate Christmas. My mother in law always makes a great deal of it because she thinks it is really a time to gather with the family, and I must admitt I do think it's that time of the year to enjoy eachother .
Normally we divide the preperation of the Christmasdinner into the families, for example me and my wife prepare the entree, my parents in law the main course and my brother in law and his wife the dessert. This year I volunteered to prepare the entire meal. It was a lot of work but it tasted awesome.
- Starter
Boiled and seasoned chicken with mango and curry-mayonaise - Main course
Haricot verts with mustard vinagraitte
Fried Cauliflower
artichoke carpaccio
fried potatoes with bacon and onion
steak and pork tenderloin with Mushroom and peppersauce - Dessert
It took a lot of ingredients of wich you only had to use very little, so my mother in law had a lot of herbs, vegetables and other "spare" stuff left from our dinner :) So she could cook some more the next day :)
The dinner was awesome, I totally forgot to make some pictures of the end result (to busy with preparing I guess). But everybody enjoyed it so it was a success..
Second Christmas day
On the second Christmas day we first had a relaxed gathering at our home before we took off to the restaurant. We went to a sushi restaurant with my brothers and their kids. Our son Senna took his girlfriend with him for the very first time, so it was special to him and to us.
The downside of a sushi restaurant for me is that I always eat to much lol.... but we had a great time. It is always fun spending time with my brothers and their kids. It was a awesome evening.
So how were your Christmas days ???
Have a great day

Stapelen? Sjips, dat ik daar niet eerder aan heb gedacht hahaha !!! Dank je wel !!
Looks like you guys had a wonderfull time!
My Christmas days where like yours, spending time with family, cooking and some time outside (walking and running)
PS. Love the fact you are offering the space in your house for friends while waiting till they can get in their temporarly home!
hahaha great picture, cooking is always fun !! And thank you, but that's what friends are for isn't is :) have a great day !!!
For sure that is what friends are for! But it isn't traditionally Dutch (most of our houses are just big enough to host the family itself I assume🤔) to host friends in your house while they are waiting for their new home, so that's why I really like it.
You got a point :) Thank you !!
Hehehehhe I went for take away sushi yesterday when reaching back in Switzerland yesterday, so great minds think alike on eating raw fish on boxing day.
Cool to have everyone together in these kinds of days! Family first!
Family first indeed! Hope you did enjoy your escape to the snow? :)
It was a good one using someone elses family hahaha.
tomorrow heading towards my own family :D
Absoluteley !!! Family first...no matter what :)
Looks like you guys had a really great time! Don't feel bad about not getting pictures of the food. I do the same thing all the time. There were so many pictures I wanted to get from this past weekend and I didn't even come close to getting half of them. I was pretty bummed at first, but oh well!
