Investing in Family

in #family7 years ago (edited)

Today, another milestone was reached, a second of my brothers joined Steemit. Not much of a milestone you might say but you'd be wrong, as this brother is well, let's say, not much of a fan of 'social media'.

But after seeing what was here and the kinds of things many post, he has rightly come to the conclusion that this is a blogging site more than a social site and that is worth his time. It took a little time to talk him around and quite a lot of examples from you guys but I see Steemit as an investment opportunity and I want my family to be part of this too.

He is going by: @rezantroy

I am glad he is here, he is the smart one in the family and the one that is closest in age to me. This means that we fought a lot as children and he also helped me a lot too.

For example, one time I had a nightmare after watching a 60's Vampire movie (I think it was a Christopher Lee one) and woke up. I was about 8 but we didn't share a room as we had a few years earlier. He noticed my light on and came in to see what was up and I explained. He was 12 and gave me advice I still use 30 years later.

He said, my dreams are mine and even though they may seem real at times and outside of my control, they are not, that is an illusion. Once you realise you are dreaming, instead of waking up, stay there to play and create or do whatever you want. Nothing has power in your dreams but you. Use the power, learn from the dreams.

Over the years, even though we live some 15,000 kilometers apart and haven't seen each other in almost 10 years, we have used each other as sounding boards across a very diverse range of topics. This has worked out quite well because we have quite different hobbies and interest areas.

If you have the time, I would ask that you have a read of his intro article and welcome him into Steemit as part of your extended family too.

You can find it here: The King of the North

In case you may have missed things, my family on Steemit so far are:

Brother: @galenkp

Wife: @momone

Sister in-law: @seabreeze

Who knows how many will come along for the ride. :)

Hello ! I am @digital-gypsy , nice to meet you @Tarazkp ! Welcome to Steemit and all the best for your posting

I too was convinced by my brother to join. I've yet to tell him that I've taken him up on his advice though. I plan on making it a surprise stealth announcement - as he'll see another side of me in the process. :cP

Steemit is a platform that I would feel more comfortable promoting if there weren't a timer for reverting newbie delegated steempower. I recently hit the 'bandwidth limit' myself and I've still got my delegated steem.

Which means that I'd have to be cool about delegating steem to a recommended person so that he or she may take his or her time growing organically.

Ah yes - I've deviated somewhat in my train of thought. :c) Incidentally that was very wise advice for a 12 year old. Realizing its just a dream and that you 'own' your dreams is such an empowering feeling. Its quite 'Matrix-like' to face what would otherwise be a bad dream by shifting walls about with the power of your determination. :cP

Don't say that too loud, he will start to fancy himself as Neo.

I don't know about this delegation thing I don't think that was around in 'the good old days' of 6 months ago :)

How will you surprise your brother?

Ah - well what harm could come from believing that one is the chosen one? ;c)

Well we don't really talk much or often. We lead our different lives. Every once in a while we interact and he has always been very interested in markets and the like - so the latest interactions involved an enthused mention of Steemit.

When people lead separate lives they can grow less aware of each others' true selves. This has kind of happened to us - so any exposition should prove refreshing.

As for the delegation thing - I'm not sure how it works myself - as information on it is scarce. ^_^ It'll be fine as I'll keep steeming on. :c)

That lack of awareness of others is increasing i think.

Well yes... its an irony of this World within which we live, that we enjoy an era where technological connectivity has never been greater - and yet our ability to reach others hearts is ever more hindered (in no small part due to regressions in the social fabric - social movements whose actions drive demographic wedges between us being prime examples of such).

Fortunately much like a peer-to-peer connection - it only takes two to make life that much more worth living.

great that families are on here, it's an opportunity for all

Will it be a problem when the Mafia join though? ;)

not as long as we pay our 'tribute' lol. Until then, forget about it!
