Friday of Council
It is the liturgical preparation to live fully, the Greater Week, after the beginning of the Lenten Season.
It is called, also Friday of Sorrows, because that day the supreme power met and decided to condemn Our Lord Jesus Christ, to death.
The Catholic Church reserves this moment to meditate on the sufferings of the Virgin Mary, for the sentence imposed on her beloved son.
The tradition highlights the difficult moments, for which I transit.
To contemplate their pain, to regret is to value the feeling of a mother towards her son.
Below are the seven sufferings of Mary :
Maria did not find a shelter in Bethlehem where she gave birth to her son. Which was born in a stable, surrounded by animals.
Simeon's prophecy: A sword will pierce your soul.
The persecution of Herod and the flight to Egypt.
The Child Jesus lost in the temple for three days.
The meeting of Mary with her son, on the way to Calvary.
The crucifixion
The burial of Jesus and the solitude of Mary.
It is because of these pains that she suffered, she understands all those who suffer, she accompanies them and gives peace.
The church invites us to offer all sorrows to Christ.
Hello, may we have a meaningful holy week. Thank you for this post.
