Just for fun - Homemade Glittered Play Dough
Last weekend we didn’t have much planned since my husband was mostly at work. So I made myself creative and made with the kids…. Home Made PLAY-DOUGH . It is so simple and the kids love it!
Here’s the recipe for some nice and creative quality fun with the kids:
Enjoy!
Homemade Glittered Play Dough
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
2 tablespoons oil
2 cups water
Additions:
For color - add a few drops of food coloring
For smell - you can add a few drops of vanilla extract/essential oils/cinnamon
For texture - sprinkle some glitter
Method:In a medium sized saucepan, on a low heat, combine: flour, salt and cream of tartar.
Stir and gradually add water and oil. Keep stirring until the dough forms. It might take a while, just hang in there and keep stirring:
Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Then knead until soft and pliable.
It should turn from this:
To this:
Divide the dough into 3 balls and press with your thumb into the center of each ball to make a hole (do not go all the way through):
Now here is the fun part for kids: (I would recommend using plastic gloves for this) Add 3-4 drops of food coloring to each ball and knead the dough until the color is blended in:
This time they chose the pink, yellow and green:
Now for the glitter and scent: Have a blast with the glitter and sprinkle it on. Choose a favorite scent and add a few drops to add the perfect aroma to the dough:
Knead the dough until all combined, and … Voila! Home-made play dough.
Now play away!
*Store the dough in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. Can last for weeks.
