Never Too Late || Episode One

This post is a short story, packed full with lessons on parenting.
Grace has just written her JAMB examination, awaiting the results. This is her first sitting and she had prepared adequately for the examination or so she thought! She had boasted to everyone who cared to listen how she wrote so well, that she would definitely be given the school of her choice and the course of her choice to study!
Alas! That was not the case. When the results came out she found out that she didn't make the cut-off mark for the university how much more getting the course of her choice.
She decided to settle for her second choice of institution and settle for another course altogether. This didn't go down well with her parents as they wanted her to study what she had in mind ever since: Law. She bluntly refused and stated that she would go for a course the school will easily give to her. Grace didn't want to be left behind when her friends all gain admission into school.
As a parent, where do you come to compromise? Handling children can be difficult but handling teenagers is something else. What would you advise for Grace? That it is wise at times to settle for less than what she had in mind? That they can put in more effort to get desired results? or for her parents? That they should allow their children have their (children) way even at their (parent) own detriment? That they should insist on what they want they feel is right for their children without thinking of their feelings?
