A new kids craze in the UK.
It looks like this summer a new craze will be sweeping the UK as kids take to the woods and parks in search of painted rocks. This has been around for a while but judging from walking around our local country park yesterday with my daughter and her friend it's grown to be a much bigger thing.
In this latest craze you go out with your kids and walk around parks and woodland with your kids searching for painted stones. This is my daughters haul from yesterday.
The idea is you collect the rocks, take a picture to share online and then hide the rocks again with one you've painted yourself.
The two tags for sharing the rocks we found are Derbyshire Rocks and Nottingham rocks. Sure if you look around there should be local facebook pages for everyone or set one up yourselves.

Now we just need to find some rocks to paint and then this weekend go out and hide the rocks again.
As crazes go it's a great family activity that gets the kids out and about for a few hours, we spent 3 hours yesterday walking around the woods.
It promotes outdoor

It was great to see so many families and kids out doing the Pokemon game and strangers talking to each other as they passed by playing the game.

That's such a cool idea; get's the kids excited to go out and play.
The girls loved searching for the stones yesterday and can't wait to go out again to find new stones.

It is really fun and seems to be really taking off here so hopefully wil only get bigger as Summer comes around.
What you mean no gadgets involved, just a child or wanna be child and hands to carry some rocks, there has to be gadgets involved, where is the marketing for the find your painted rock kit here?
I'm sure there will be companies selling paint kits soon but basically you just need paint, varnish and a few stones to paint your own and that's it.

Hahahahahah @alienbutt, that's really some crazy stuff. Sounds cool too, though. A nice derail from phones and electronics, even though Facebook is still involved, it's a nice stuff for a walk and some outdoor fun activity
Great idea similar to geocaching.
