You cannot turn on the television, listen to the radio, or pick up a newspaper without hearing or seeing the words "Fake News" being discussed.
Recently I made a Blog about Fake News and this was the slide.
As explained before Fake News is now an epidemic and things will get a lot worse before they get better.
To fully understand what is driving this epidemic you only have to look back at the history of Social Media for the answer.
Though Social Media can be traced back to the mid 1990's it really only took off around the mid/let 2000's and for the purpose of this Blog I would say that mass adoption of Social Media came in 2007..!!
This may come as surprise to many but it could be argued that real Social Media came with the birth of the smartphone.
It was during 2007 that the smartphone lifted Social Media to the heights we are witnessing today.
The reason why Fake News is now becoming so prominent is that it has taken 8 years for this form of communication to be used for its sheer power.
Social Media is now considered a potential weapon of media destruction and unless validated it really should be taken no more than on a 50/50 truth basis.
Step forward STEEMIT.
For the first time ever Social Media is being validated for its TRUTH on the BLOCKCHAIN..!!
It is this validation process that the rivals of STEEMIT are very envious of and it is my strong believe that in the future all Media, both Social Media and Mainstream Media will be powered on the BLOCKCHAIN.
We are witnessing a new dawn in Media and it is powered by the BLOCKCHAIN Engine..!!

Such an important point, but you didn't explain it. Are you saying that steemit posts get validated by truth, from upvotes and comments, and that's how it is different than something spread on Facebook, twitter, or ?
