Thoughts for the day - Mark 9:35

in #faith6 years ago

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."
—Mark 9:35

Such an odd verse to those who do not know Jesus. Who seeks to be last in this world? How can you get ahead if you are striving to be last? -- This only makes sense when you look at the life that Jesus lead, the example he gave us.

He came into the world in a town where nothing good came from, into a family where the quick marriage of Mary to Joseph was certainly "discussed", born in a manager and grew up working as a common carpenter -- yet Jesus was the son of the creator of everything that is and will ever be! He of course could have had all the riches of the world and wore the robes, gold and jewels to prove his superiority over the common folk. He could certainly have had any position of stature on this earth that he chose to have, yet Jesus chose only to do the will of the Father.

For this, a humble servant of the Father and the people he loved, he was flogged and mocked and hung on a cross, one of the most heinous manners of death ever known. Yes, he died a broken, stripped naked and fully humiliated peasant for crimes of compassion and truth.

Jesus died, but Jesus rose again! He of course changed the world forever. In his death he gave us life. He gave us an example, he gave us the gift of forgiveness. Not by His will but by the father's did Jesus rise to number one!

Let your success and failures be the Lord's to give and take, reach for the goal of Jesus, everything else will then be ordered for you, perfectly by the creator of this universe.

Many blessings.

Invest wisely (in yourself and your gifts) for the future.

If you harbor hate for some or blame or despise others, be they politicians, religious leaders, “sinners” of the flesh, or those who use you or harm you, then by the natural law of sowing and reaping you cannot lead a quiet and peaceable life.

The problem is most people see things through the lens of their flesh eyes instead of their spiritual eyes. To that end, they are both spiritually evil (ignorant) and spiritually adulterous (idolatrous). That is why they look to or seek after signs. That does not mean they are necessarily “bad” people. It’s just not their “end time”, their “last days” yet! Again, we all are brought to the glory of God in our own order (1 Cor. 15:23)

Keep in mind what an evil (ignorant… of Christ) and adulterous (idolatrous) man the Pharisee Saul was before Christ revealed Himself to him and his name (nature) was changed to Paul (meaning little).

Question: If you knew prior to Saul’s conversion what God’s plan was for him in the future, would you have “judged” him differently before his conversion? Would you have harbored hate or resentment for his severe persecution of Christians or would you have prayed for him as instructed in 1 Ti 2:1? I ask that because there are many Saul’s in the world today whose time has not yet come! Think about what unconditional love is.

Yes, this is a very good question and often asked via.

If you knew Hitler was going to kill millions of people, would you, given the chance had killed him before he rose to power? When he was a young man? When he was a child? When he was an infant? How about his mother if you knew she was to give birth to him?

We are not called to answer these questions nor given the wisdom from the Father to do so. This judgement is the Father's alone.

Thanks for the reply.
Many blessings
