Live by faith: Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes

Righteousness is a central point of the teachings of Jesus. How can we love God if we do not first go to the aid of our neighbor? The exercise of the faculty of empathy is essential for a full and a happy life. If the neighbor does not interest us, we are living with our backs to God, our neighbor is the person who needs our help, the Book of Proverbs explains to us with wisdom: "Do not say to your neighbor, ´Come back tomorrow and I´ll give it to you´—when you already have it with you" Proverbs 3:28.
About righteousness the apostle Paul had a very clear concept, Jesus was the personification of righteousness, and his whole life was an example of it. According to Paul's thought, to know the righteousness of God is to know Jesus.
But righteousness is more than the virtue of justice, righteousness is a spiritual gift, a charism of the spirit: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," Matthew 7:12. Righteousness is a progressive path to the spiritual enlightenment (Gnosis): "The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day" Proverbs 4:18.
The apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans speaks of a righteousness according to the Law of Moses and another according to Christ; and it is because of the righteousness of Christ through the gift of faith, that we are saved and worthy of the promises of the beatitudes: "Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes" Romans 10:3-4.
Righteousness under the old covenant depended on obedience to a difficult set of imperatives: "Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: ´The person who does these things will live by them´" Romans 10:5.
But righteousness according to Christ is an invitation to a new freedom, to a new lifestyle, to see others through the eyes of God.
