God said to the prophet Isaiah: If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. Isaiah 7:9

The prophet Isaiah was perhaps the greatest of the messianic prophets, and in his time he carried out a great educational task while becoming a great counselor to the kings of Judah due to his invaluable wisdom and foresight.
But his prophetic book before developing the historical events of his time recounts the situation of the Kingdom of Judah with the poem of the vineyard (Isaiah 5:1-7), the prophet metaphorically described the Kingdom of Judah as that vineyard that had not given the expected fruits, sins were the order of the day and the ways of the Lord were nothing more than a dead letter. And with these words, the book describes God's lament for the situation of his people: "The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress" Isaiah 5:7.
And in this chaotic social context, the Book of Isaiah says that the prophet had a divine vision, and through that vision, the prophet was sent by the Lord to meet the King of Judah, Ahaz because Samaria and Damascus, the capitals of Israel and Syria, had allied with each other to take Jerusalem by force and put a King allied to them. The prophet explained to the King of Judah that he should not be afraid because this coalition that had been formed was destined to fail, the Davidic dynasty would survive; but beyond this, in his oracle, the prophet affirmed that Judah would only survive by putting its trust in God and not in military alliances, as for example, with the kingdoms of Egypt or Assiria. And with these words, the prophet expressed that only God should be feared and not men: "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all" Isaiah 7:9. After this the prophet offered a sign from God to the King, and when he refused, Isaiah predicted to Ahaz that God would put Judah's faith to the test with the invasion of Assyria.
This story from Isaiah is a tale of how when men lose the gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, and equanimity) and the ability to make assertive decisions as a result of wisdom, problems can only arise one after another.
