If I Fail More Than You DO, I Win

Failure is horrifying to most people if not everybody.

Its negative connotation has come to a point where many suicides have been connected to it

Malaysia : 15-Year-Old Girl Committed Suicide After Placing Second in Class

THE TRUE STORY OF A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL THAT ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED SUICIDE BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T PLACE FIRST IN CLASS HAS GONE VIRAL OVER THE INTERNET SINCE IT WAS POSTED YESTERDAY

Not too long ago, the results for the SPM examinations were released, which prompted a flurry of ‘be proud of your child no matter what they score for SPM’ postings on the internet. As comical and needless as it may sound, the postings actually made a great impact on many parents, who contrary to popular belief, were unhappy with their children’s SPM examination results.

Is the system responsible for this kind of tragedy and what is the government doing to address it?

NOTHING!

The education system is unrelentingly harping on students to get straight "A's" and the parents (sadly) are not helping either.

Who suffers?

Our children...unfortunately and sadly.

How and what can we do to overcome this wrong, disinformation and ignorance?

Education. NO, not the rotten-system way, but by redefining the word "FAIL"

Another problematic word is "PERFECTION"

Seth Godin explains:

Perfect is the ideal defense mechanism, the work of Pressfield’s Resistance, the lizard brain giving you an out.

Perfect lets you stall, ask more questions, do more reviews, dumb it down, safe it up and generally avoid doing anything that might fail (or anything important).

You’re not in the perfect business. Stop pretending that’s what the world wants from you.

Truly perfect is becoming friendly with your imperfections on the way to doing something remarkable.

Make Life Easier on Yourself by Accepting “Good Enough.” Don’t Pursue Perfection, Pursue Progress

- Medium

Becky Beaupre Gillespie once said, “Good enough is the new perfect.”

Stop chasing perfection.

Perfection suggests a state of flawlessness, without any defects.

To be perfect implies a condition where your action or performance attains a level of excellence that cannot be exceeded.

Voltaire once observed, “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” In other words, instead of pushing yourself to an impossible “perfect,” and therefore getting nowhere, accept “good.”

Millions of people are obsessed with perfection.

This obsession makes it difficult to make a decision without wasting too much time analyzing every detail.

Carl Jung – To be normal is the ideal aim of the unsuccessful

“I feel it is the duty of one who goes his own way to inform society of what he finds on his voyage of discover.” ~ Carl Jung

@nkkb I totally agree that the current educational system is too academic lacking the humane touch to prepare students forward into their "Work" life. It has to be redefined.
