Where did I go wrong?

in #failure9 years ago (edited)

I know you don’t want to read about failure! We are all looking for successful examples and we try to copy them, but you may find it interesting when we talk about being sincere about failure...

I will mostly talk here about the cruel Steemit reality so this might be part of your interest.

My latest project was created with so much Steemit dedication that in the last 2 weeks I’ve worked day and night helped by a small team of friends just to get out the alpha version.

I’m talking here about the www.steemsupport.com  website.

Yesterday, with confidence, I posted the announcement article and today the reality came over me like a rock: It is not what regular Steemit users want! They don’t want this kind of useful stuff.

It is not about money!

I’m not sad because the post didn’t made a lot of money, I’m sad because only 10 people created accounts on the website after all my effort to create something good for this community!!!

In 24 hours 66 people upvoted, 14 commented and just 8 tested the website by creating an account…

I’ve even created two announcement posts with time delay (for Europe and USA).

I’ve promoted the post continuously on steemit chat and I did everything me and my team helping me to create this website knew to do for the best exposure….

The second post got by the time I am writing this 49 votes, 6 comments and resulted in 2 new accounts created on the website….

Why did they upvoted but did not tested it?

I am asking now myself what did we do wrong:

The website? The Idea was bad? The marketing was bad? What could get us so bad user registration rate?

Please take your time and look at the website, study my announcement posts on my blog and if you have any idea tell me where is the problem?

Do we need to create more relations with influent people that can help when you start something like that? Where and how can you get that?

Or maybe you, the Steemit user don’t need our website… or you don’t like it? Please give us some feedback on this!

What do you think?

Thank you,

Gigi

PS: We can also talk about this on the steemit chat. My username: cryptojoy.com

EDIT!!!!

After the first comment from @jennsky I've decided to sell this  domain!

Sort:

Let me stop everything and work on your problem,LOL. First glance, first impression, I dont want to register, this is not steemit. The plethora of knowledge inside Steemit is overwhelming as it is. 1/10 content providers see themselves as knowledge base gurus. There is more content in this category than any other.
I can not imagine why you thought this was needed- elsewhere at that. If I was to read some knowledge base material, I would seek particular authors I have come to trust. Again not something your site can do.
Sorry if that seemed crude- spitting it out fast without thinking about it, is my most honest true opinion.

There is no failure. There are only learning lessons along the way.

Very good! Thank you for your honest opinion! This is what I need to hear: The truth! Thanks!

Well darn, whats next.

Nothing for a while. I will take a Steemit break to clear my mind... :)

What, no way! Make a thoughtful list of what was learned and get back on that horse! With this lesson, you are now new and improved.

I really think 24 hours was much too quick a time frame in which to "throw the baby out with the bath water" based on the very first feedback comment you received. I hope you will learn valuable takeaways and lessons going forward from this experience.
Best wishes with the domain sale and for the future.
