Why Does Facebook Collect Your Data?

Facebook keeps pace with new moves to make up for the data scandal. After Mark Zuckerberg's testimony in front of the US Congress last week, it is now clear why we were collecting our data when you did not use the social media platform.

Why is Facebook collecting data?
According to the explanations, websites and applications; using Facebook services to make their content and ads more interactive. These services include;

Social plugins such as Like and Share buttons that make other sites more social and help you share content Login with Facebook, which enables you to use your account for other web sites and applications, and applications that display ads from Facebook advertisers and Analytics Websites that help you better understand how people use their services, Ad and measurement tools that enable them to show their own ads on Facebook or elsewhere, and to understand the effectiveness of their ads.
When you visit a site or application that uses these services, you are receiving information even if you have logged out of Facebook or you do not have a account. The reason for this is that other applications and sites do not know who uses Facebook.

Apps and web sites that use services like a like button or Analytics send information to the company to make their content and ads better.

When you visit a website, your browser sends a request to the site's server. Your browser will share your IP address, so the website will know where to send the site's content to the internet. The website also receives information about the browser and operating system you are using at the same time; because not all browsers and devices support the same features.

A website basically sends your browser two things: the content on the first page and the second one to send your request to other companies that provide content or services on the site for your browser.

So when a website uses one of our services, your browser will send social media giant information similar to the information that your website received.

This also applies to all other services the site uses. For example; If you see a YouTube video on a site outside of YouTube, your browser will ask you to request the video from YouTube. The YouTube video will then be sent to you.

The social media giant is now keeping all its users safe by updating all these services. The FB, which also makes breakthroughs such as shortening the API request times, seems to no longer get personal data into 3rd party applications and platforms.
