Facebook Outage Sparks Metaverse Disruption

in #facebook6 months ago

In a morning marked by confusion and frustration, internet users worldwide found themselves asking the same question: "Is Facebook down?" But it wasn't just Facebook; the entire Metaverse was affected.

According to Meta's communications head, Andy Stone, a technical glitch led to the outage of the tech giant's websites. Between 10 and 11 a.m., over half a million Facebook outages were reported on DownDetector, with users experiencing issues ranging from being logged out to unable to access the platform.

The disruption extended to other Meta-owned platforms, including Instagram, Messenger, and Threads. Even Meta Quest headsets experienced disruptions, as reported by 9to5Mac.com. Surprisingly, YouTube, although not affiliated with Meta, also experienced downtime during the same period, though some users managed to access it through their Google accounts.

By noon, users began reporting that Facebook and its associated services were gradually coming back online, alleviating the widespread frustration caused by the outage.
