Oculus Go, the virtual reality viewer announced by Facebook last October, will be built by the Chinese Xiaomi, known in the West especially for its smartphones rather similar to Apple's iPhone. This was announced by Hugo Barra, vice president of Facebook for virtual reality and former manager of Xiaomi, at the Ces technology fair in Las Vegas.

Oculus Go, expected on the market at the beginning of this year, will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The same chip will also equip a version of the visor intended for the Chinese market alone, called Mi VR Standalone and always made by Xiaomi.

The Oculus company, specialized in virtual reality, was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for 2.3 billion dollars. The launch of the Oculus Rift visor dates back to 2016.

Xiaomi is doing really well the last couple of years. I am a fan of their products and have quite some of them already at home. Not always easy to buy them as most of them are not for sale on the European market!
Their latest cooperations with google like the mibox and 360 vr camera really show that they are stepping up their game and are no longer just a cheap Chinese tech company.

Thanks for your comment.
Xiaomi is a good company that is growing a lot, considering that it was founded in 2010, in the years to come it will acquire an ever increasing share of the market.
